Join hundreds of your new friends serving out in our own backyard, making a difference together! You don’t have to jump on a plane to change the world, your own backyard is the perfect place to start. Register solo, plan a team event with your coworkers, small group, kids, friends, neighbors, or family.

Complete the registration form below and we’ll email you with specifics on your project one week prior to Compassion Sunday, April 28th 2019.

Foothill High School Clean Up

(Family Friendly – Kids 14+)

We’re coming together to clean up specific areas at Foothill High School! Join us in making a difference at our host school. We will meet in the courtyard and get to work clearing out debris and unused furniture. Bring your gloves and a smile. 

  • Project Time: 9:30am-10:45am

Sunflower Hill

(Family Friendly – Children 12+)
Need an excuse to get your hands dirty for a great cause? Recreate happy childhood memories by spending a morning working the earth to plant, cultivate, and harvest vegetables at Sunflower Hill in Livermore! Sunflower Hill provides people with special needs the opportunity to gain valuable life skills by teaching them to garden, cook, and serve their community and donates their produce back to people in need in our community.
  • Project Time: 9:00 am – noon.

Kids Against Hunger

(Family Friendly – Children 7+ Accompanied By Adult)
Ten children die worldwide per minute from starvation and malnutrition related diseases, and you can make a difference! Spend time packing meals together with Kids Against Hunger to be shipped all over the world! Note: There is a suggested (but not mandatory) donation of $20 per team member that goes toward covering the cost of the hundreds of meals to be packed.

City Team Oakland

(Family Friendly – Children 12+)
City Team Oakland is busy renovating a new home serving unsheltered single women living in Oakland called the House of Hope. On 4/28, we will come alongside City Team to garden, paint, refinish floors, etc… to help prepare the House of Hope for its opening in June. Come ready to get dirty and have fun!

Senior Serving Party!

(All Ages, Children Must be Accompanied By Adult)
Meet other other families, their kiddos, and seniors in our community! Join us at one of our partner Assisted Living & Memory Care Centers (Creekview) in Pleasanton for a morning of fun. Your kids will love the activities we have for them, including making hygiene kits for the homeless, crafts, and visiting seniors!

The Crayon Initiative

(All Ages, Children Must be Accompanied By Adult)
Looking for a fun and VERY local project to bring your little ones to!? The Crayon Initiative is coming to Foothill High School, and they’re bringing tons of crayons! You’re little ones of all ages can come and sort and arrange crayons for kids in need. The Crayon Initiative collects crayons, sorts them, melts them down and repurposes them to give to children in poverty, as well as to hospitals and other places where they can be enjoyed by children!

Compassion Connection Serve Day is a Sunday where Blue Oaks takes church out into the community to show the love of Jesus in tangible ways. Blue Oaks partners with various schools and non-profit organizations in order to accomplish tangible projects and to assist these organizations in taking their own missions further, faster.

The Blue Oaks community and friends will join together to serve in projects across the East Bay. Choose to stay local and meet at projects at local senior centers, schools, or gardens or adventure out a bit to Oakland and other communities.

Yes! two of our projects (Senior Serve Party and The Crayon Initiative are specifically meant for your littles in elementary and below) and we have Kids Against Hunger which is geared specifically for Middle and High School students and their families. Have kids in different age groups? Feel free to combine the whole family at one project or make the adjustments that feel right for your family.

Yes, many of our projects can accommodate groups of all different sizes and age groups. Don’t have a group to sign up with? Join us and meet some new friends and faces that you’ll see around Blue Oaks and the community.

This event is budgeted for and covered by Blue Oaks Church However, Blue Oaks attendees have made events like this possible by generously giving to our Compassion Ministry fund, which goes directly back into our partners.

Plan on bringing any personal items you may need. Wear your Blue Oaks T-Shirt, sunscreen, water, tennis shoes, and any other items that you might need for your specific project. When you register you will receive an email with details about your specific project and what you can expect.

Yes! Leading up to our big weekend you will hear a lot about what’s going on. You can also stay tuned right here on the website. Once you are officially signed up for a project you will be receiving emails about your project as well.
