This week In the book of Daniel, we encounter three men – Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego – who refuse to bend their knees to Nebuchadnezzar’s idol.
The Babylonian king becomes furious with them and threatens to throw each of them into the fire. “O Nebuchadnezzar,” they respond, “we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand.”
This statement shows their remarkable faith. They know that God is able and worthy of trust. Yet, in the verses that follow, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego’s relentless devotion to God really shines through. “But even if he does not,” they say, “Don’t be deceived. Our God can rescue us still.”
Is your full devotion contingent on just getting from God what you want? Are you willing to praise and worship Him “even if He does not” give you everything you wish?
Join us as we learn from the formidable courage of these three young men.
