The Good Samaritan

The Good Samaritan

This story is known to Christians and non-Christians alike. What many people don’t know is how the cultural, social and religious realities of Jesus’ day color the story. In this message we explore what this story meant to Jesus’ listeners and hopefully give us a new appreciation for it. We are the wounded man on the road. Jesus is the Samaritan who, at great cost, in time, in money, in effort, in energy, stopped by the side of the road and picked us up and took care of us. Understanding this gives us the heart of compassion to do what Jesus says at the end of the passage, “Go and do likewise.”
