Jesus said we are to pray, “Your kingdom come.”
What is the kingdom of God exactly? What would it look like if God’s kingdom were to actually come? We will know the kingdom has arrived when people shamelessly adore and love God and are freed from sin. There will be no more hunger, enemies will stop fighting, aesthetic beauty will flourish, fear will be eliminated, and hearts of stone will turn into hearts of flesh. Is this even possible? Can this world be so drastically redeemed from sin?
The primary purpose of Jesus’ ministry was to authenticate the presence of God’s kingdom here on earth. We need to pray, “God, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” Also, we need to bear the responsibility of seeing God’s kingdom manifested in reality through our relationships, finances, work, and thought life.
