Be the Light

“You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16

Our Vision

Create a gathering place where we learn, worship, pray, serve, laugh and cry together. We will love one another and serve “the least of these”. By doing so, we will bring light to the world like a city on a hill that glorifies our Father in heaven!

Be the Light is an initiative to transform this vision into a reality.

A Gathering Place. . .

A key challenge facing Blue Oaks Church is the lack of a permanent home. We have been a portable church since we opened in July 2012. Being a tenant of the Pleasanton school district has been mutually beneficial, but the needs of our church will always be secondary to the needs of the school. We’ve had to adjust to ever-changing school requirements over the years, especially during COVID.

. . .To Be the Light!

According to Barna Research, the San Francisco Bay Area is one of the least churched areas in the country. We believe one of the best ways to attract unchurched people is to be the kind of church that loves one another and demonstrates Christ’s love to others. Over the years, we have invested a significant percentage of our church resources in serving others. We will continue that investment into these four priorities:

  • Homelessness
  • Seniors
  • Foster Children
  • People with Special Needs.

Our New Home

A building is not a church, any more than a house is a home. A place becomes a home when people move into it, laugh together, cry together, live life together, and worship God together. We can’t wait for our building to become your new church home!

Being the Light

Being the Light by Investing in Hope

Blue Oaks has invested in our local community since our inception. In the current fiscal year, we’re investing 18% of our operating budget through our Compassion ministry. We’ve identified projects that we will fund as a part of this campaign and those projects will be invested in as pledges are fulfilled.

Homelessness

At CityTeam Oakland and Goodness Village in Livermore, Blue Oaks will fund the interiors of 25 bedrooms or homes and seek to create opportunities to serve the residents of these important communities.

Supporting those who foster kids

Blue Oaks will partner with Foster the City and the Pleasanton Unified School District Foster and Kinship Programs to encourage the fostering of children and supporting those families who do.

Senior living chapel services

We will expand our current senior center chapel services to serve those who live independently but may have limited family or community connections in the Tri-Valley.

People with special needs

Blue Oaks will continue as the host church for the Tim Tebow Foundation Night to Shine prom night for people with special needs.
