BLUE OAKS SUMMER INTERN PROGRAM

Take your next step!

This summer take your next step in growing in your relationship with God and in exploring the gifts, strengths, and passions you were created with.  You have a purpose, and we can help you find out what it is.  Receive:

  • One-on-one and small group training with a mentor/staff member.
  • Participate in an exclusive intern-only-leadership training sessions from Executive Pastor Joe Hartley. Learn how to lead yourself and others.
  • Grow in your faith by participating in an intern-only small group.
  • Specialize in a specific area of interest and skill set, grow in your strengths and abilities and develop how to best use them in your school and future workplace.
  • Receive community service hours, professional recommendations for future job and educational pursuits, a boost for your resume, and training specific to your area of ministry.

Dates:  June 13 through August 13

Register by: May: 31st

Requirements:

  1. Must attend one weekly small group & one weekly leadership group training. (Must complete 80% of sessions).
  2. Meet weekly with mentor and complete tasks.
  3. Unless specified, a majority of hours will be completed during the week with some positions operating primary on weekends.
  4. Internship weekly time commitment will vary between 10-15 hours per week.

 

Student Ministry (Grade 9+ In Fall 2017)

Create meaningful experiences for students to connect with one another and God and have an impact that lasts way past the summer. Whether you like planning events, finding creative ways to get students excited about and connected to God, or leading and mentoring younger students, this is your jam.

Additional Requirements: Must be able to work from 9:30am-1pm and from 6:15-9:30pm on Wednesdays during the internship. Special exceptions can be given for planned vacations.

Kids Ministry (Grade 7+ In Fall 2017)

Have a passion for kids and love leading games, crafts, and investing in the future? You could be the one that introduces a kid to Jesus for the first time! You’ll learn the in’s and out’s of running a children’s program and put on an epic experience for kids grades 1-5! You’ll plan fun games, work on your planning skills, and learn a bit about developing curriculum and how to put on an incredible experience for kids that will keep them coming back!

Additional Requirements: Must be able to work from 8:15-12:30pm on Sundays during internships. Special exceptions can be given for planned vacations.

Visual Media (Grade 9+ In Fall 2017)

Get hands on experience in creative arts and design! You’ll learn the behind the scenes steps and skills you’ll need to become a graphic designer in a church environment. You will get experience using cameras, and programs such as Adobe Photoshop and Premiere.

Sunday Production  (Grade 9+ In Fall 2017)

Want to learn how to put on an epic rock show? We’ll start from the beginning and teach you how to put on a service at Blue Oaks. Whether you’re interested in lights and production and running the show live, or you’re interested in set design and programming, this is a great way to work behind the scenes and learn the basics of production.

Additional Requirements: Must be able to work from 8am-12pm on Sundays during the internship. Special exceptions can be given for planned vacations.

Church Operations (Grade 9+ In Fall 2017)

Like running the show behind the scenes? Learn what it takes to make sure that people are connected in every area of our church, whether it’s small groups, serving or growing spiritually.  You’ll get a little taste of everything and you’ll get to learn database management and administrative operations, a total plus for college and job applications!

Music/Worship (Grade 9+ In Fall 2017)

Learn how to put on an epic show! Whether you love playing music and want to develop your vocal or instrument skills, want to be behind the scenes making sure the show goes on, or just want to learn how to manage the stage and crowd, this is the right place for you. May have additional time requirements if interested in instrument/vocal involvement, and auditions are required prior to performing.

Additional Requirements: Must be able to work from 6am-1:30pm Sundays during internship. Special exceptions can be given for planned vacations.

Communications (Grade 9+ In Fall 2017)

Communications isn’t just public speaking! If you like getting people excited about the same things you’re excited about, this is the right place for you. Learn what drives “likes” and “shares” and how you can increase engagement and interaction on social media and the web while pioneering and developing the Blue Oaks platform this summer. You’ll learn how to manage a brand, production schedule, and everything in between so when you’re ready to launch your own platform, you’ll have a head start!

Weekend Service Operations (Grade 9+ In Fall 2017)

Want to help run the entire show and learn how to be a leader and manager of large amounts of people? Whether you’re goal is to work for a church, a nonprofit, or a business, learn leadership and programming fundamentals that will transfer to any area of your life.

Additional Requirements: Must be able to work from 7:30am-1:30pm on Sundays during the internship. Special exceptions can be given for planned vacations.
