God wants us to know him. Christians believe God reveals himself in two ways — through general revelation and special revelation. General revelation is what we learn about God indirectly by watching what he does. Special revelation is what we learn about God by reading the Bible. This message focuses primarily on God revealing himself through special revelation.
God chose to be known through words. All that we need to know about God, Jesus and His will for us are found in the Bible.
Two doctrines concerning the Bible are a result of the work of the Holy Spirit. The “doctrine of inspiration” guided the writers of the Bible, while the “doctrine of illumination” teaches and guides sincere readers of scripture.
This is what we believe about how God revealed himself.
