In this passage we hear the prophet Daniel tell King Belshazzar some hard truths about the king’s immoral and self-centered personal life.
The king heard these truths, but did nothing about them. And that very night he died.
Although Christians are saved for eternity by the work Jesus did for us on the cross, we still might not pay attention to some hard truths that God, through the Holy Spirit, may be telling us.
Ignoring warnings about our sinful attitudes and behaviors may not separate us from God in Heaven, but the fact that we ignore some of these truths now does negatively affect our relationship with God and each other in our present life.
